SSC MTS Paper I (Written CBT) will be conducted from 4 February 2026 to 27 February 2026 in multiple shifts. Your specific exam date and shift will be mentioned in your admit card. Generally, there are 2 shifts: Morning (9:00 AM - 11:00 AM) and Afternoon (2:00 PM - 4:00 PM). Paper II (Descriptive) is expected in April 2026.

Carry: (1) Original printed admit card, (2) Valid government ID proof (Aadhar card, PAN, Passport, Driving License, Voter ID), (3) PWD certificate (if claiming disability compensations), (4) Scribe authorization (if applicable). Do NOT carry: Mobile phones, smartwatches, electronic devices, bags, wallets, pen/pencil (provided at center), calculators, books, or notes.

It is advised to reach the exam center at least 30 minutes before your scheduled exam start time. The test center gate closes 10 minutes after the exam start time. Once gates close, no candidate will be allowed entry. Early arrival ensures smooth verification and seating process.

Paper I is a Computer-Based Test (CBT) consisting of 100 multiple choice questions worth 100 marks. The exam duration is 90 minutes. All questions carry 1 mark each. The subjects covered are: General Intelligence & Reasoning (25 marks), Numerical Aptitude (25 marks), General English (25 marks), General Awareness (25 marks). Negative marking of 0.25 marks applies for each incorrect answer.

Yes, negative marking is applicable in Paper I. For each incorrect answer in the multiple choice test, 0.25 marks are deducted. There is no negative marking for unanswered questions (blank/neutral response). However, in Paper II (Descriptive), there is no negative marking.

Paper II is a descriptive test conducted offline (pen and paper based). Total marks: 50. Duration: 30 minutes. Candidates will be required to write either an essay or a letter on given topics. This test is aimed at assessing the writing and language skills of candidates. The language options are Hindi or English as per candidate's preference.

SSC MTS recruitment is for Multi Tasking Staff (Non-Technical) and similar Group C posts across various government departments and organizations such as Income Tax, Customs, Railways, Postal circles, Ministry departments, Public sector undertakings, Banks, and other central government agencies. Posts include clerical assistant, data entry operator, sweeper, and similar non-technical positions.

The final merit list is prepared based on combined performance of Paper I (Written CBT) and Paper II (Descriptive). Generally, Paper I score contributes 80% and Paper II score contributes 20% to the final merit. Candidates are ranked category-wise (General, OBC, SC, ST) and merit list is prepared accordingly. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) may be applicable for certain posts.
